A few months ago, I had a somewhat emergent C-section. After the procedure, my daughter had to be taken to the NICU due to trouble breathing. She ended up on a ventilator for several days and required other ICU-level care, including a central line, medication drips, and treatment for possible sepsis. Since I had to remain admitted as a patient myself, my husband stayed with our daughter in the ICU overnight for multiple nights.

Being an ICU nurse myself, I understand all the ins and outs of critical care, but my husband is not a medical person, and hospitals make him quite uncomfortable. Brenda was assigned to care for our daughter on multiple nights. I know she had a busy assignment, yet she always took time to make my husband comfortable in the ICU setting. She patiently explained everything that was happening with our daughter and ensured he felt supported and informed.

Her compassion and communication made all the difference during those uncertain early days. Brenda was incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and fully invested in the care she provided, not only to our daughter, but to our entire family. This experience showed us how much heart she puts into her work. I felt it was important to recognize her for the extraordinary care she provided during that time. We appreciate her immensely.
