It wasn’t the ending we wanted, but I am at peace knowing that this kind and compassionate nurse was with my amazing sister in her final hours.
I can’t say enough about Mason. My sister was transferred from the Heart Hospital ED for overnight monitoring and vitals due to a high white blood count. He was so calm and reassuring to our family, even after it took about two hours to get the first round of vitals completed. Given her health history, my sister was truly a walking miracle. We left the hospital that night knowing she was in the best care possible with Mason and the providers.
Sadly, she had a cardiac event in the middle of the night. Early in the morning, we received the call that she was undergoing CPR and life-saving measures. We raced to the hospital and immediately saw a diligent team working tirelessly to save her life. When the time came to stop those measures, you could see the look of care, loss, and concern on Mason’s face.
I had to call my twin sister, who didn’t yet know our sister was gone. Mason willingly held the phone with her on FaceTime so we could say one last prayer together. His kindness, compassion, and care for her gave our family peace. It wasn’t the ending we wanted, but I am at peace knowing that this kind and compassionate nurse was with my amazing sister in her final hours.
