I cannot reflect on my journey without recognizing Sunder. She completely transformed my outlook while facing a difficult situation, and she deserves all the recognition in the world. I have undergone over 30 hand surgeries, and no matter how many times I go through it, the experience never gets easier. But after meeting Sunder in the PACU at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, everything changed.

She is the most thoughtful and compassionate PACU nurse I have ever encountered. Beyond her kindness, she is an exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable nurse who will do whatever it takes to ensure her patients’ comfort and safety. Sunder visited me on the floor every day during my inpatient stays and even came to see me off on my discharge day. Knowing she is there during my care at NYU brings me immense comfort.

While she has always maintained her professionalism as my nurse, I can’t help but consider her a friend because of the genuine care she shows. Even my surgeon refers to Sunder as my “friend.”
