I had the privilege of being cared for by Nurse Taliah during my third visit since March, so I have several nurses to compare her work ethics against. On this occasion, she provided excellent care while being shadowed by a student nurse. Here are just a few reasons why she stands out among your otherwise great staff on 2A and deserves a DAISY Award.

I had bed sores from my previous visit to TMH in late April that were being managed by Home Health Care. After mentioning this to the doctor, she arranged for wound care, and the first cleaning task fell to Nurse Taliah. While the actual wounds were clean, there was a buildup of adhesive from the bandages that had accumulated since April. Upon seeing this, she immediately took it upon herself to clean all of the residue from my skin. It must have taken her about ten minutes for each of the two sores, and she did it gently without causing me pain while also teaching the student intern who assisted her.

Nurse Taliah is a very effective instructor. She doesn't use her time with the intern as a social hour; instead, she is personable and provides useful tips for a successful career. She encourages the intern to participate actively rather than just observe.

I only had to call for her once because she constantly checks on her patients, so there's rarely a need. She quietly enters the room to check on me, which I really appreciate.

Nurse Taliah is simply a pleasure to be around. I was disappointed to learn that she would have the night off. While I understand that all staff need time off, there are some people you wish you could ask to postpone it for just a day, and she is one of those individuals.

Finally, she has an outstanding memory. She remembered everything I said. For example, if I requested to delay my pain medication for an hour, it was no problem for her. She would come back in exactly one hour to check on me. I'm not sure what method she uses, but it clearly works well.
