I would like to take this opportunity to nominate Kari, RN, for the DAISY Award recognizing outstanding nursing. Kari was one of the overnight nurses who cared for me after my emergency surgery. 

Kari entered my room with a bright smile and a friendly demeanor, immediately creating an environment where I felt valued and cared for. Instead of seeing me as just a case, she recognized me as a vulnerable human being dealing with a difficult and unexpected situation. Along with her strong technical skills, Kari exemplified genuine compassion in her work. This level of care not only helped heal my body but also nurtured my spirit.

Kari’s commitment to providing excellent care was evident in every interaction. It was rejuvenating to be the fortunate recipient of her attention. She embodied the qualities of a highly skilled professional and approached every situation with compassion and kindness. She had a unique ability to combine thoroughness in her care with just the right touch of humor and lightheartedness, making me feel comfortable and understood. Her complete explanations of treatments, procedures, and timelines kept me well-informed, fostering a strong sense of trust and confidence.

A concrete example of Kari’s elevated nursing skills and her genuine desire for exceptional patient care was when she efficiently resolved a conflict regarding my prescribed intravenous medications. By coordinating with my doctor, she had him authorize a small change that allowed all medications to be administered together rather than separately. This showcased her ability to recognize a situation that could be improved for a patient and gracefully and skillfully implement that change. I was thrilled to go from having an IV in both arms to just one!

I wholeheartedly believe Kari deserves recognition for her unwavering dedication and exceptional service. Her positive impact on me as a patient and on the overall Tristate Health experience is invaluable. Thank you for considering this nomination for an award that celebrates the contributions of an outstanding nurse like Kari.
