I am nominating Paula Faircloth, LPN, for appropriate recognition of her exemplary service.
Paula works in the office of Dr. Philip Bongiorno, TMH Physician Partners-Cardiothoracic Surgery.
I’ve never smoked and was diagnosed with lung cancer. I was referred to Dr. Bongiorno for a left lung upper lobectomy.
I met Paula during an initial consultation with Dr. Bongiorno. During that appointment, and our subsequent interactions, Paula has consistently demonstrated competence, empathy, kindness, and - for me - a communication style and demeanor that conveys her significant experience. As you would expect, a diagnosis of cancer has been particularly traumatic for me and my family. With no intended disrespect to many, less experienced nurses, I’ve found that the “life experience” of more experienced nurses is often a determinant in how they establish EQ with patients.
And there’s more! I make extensive use of the much-improved patient portal, My Chart/Epic. Paula responds to my messages promptly and, unlike several responses from other local providers, she is thorough, coordinates with others as needed, is empathetic, and offers her contact information for her direct communication with other members of my medical team.
I believe that TMH is privileged to have someone with the exemplary skills that are demonstrated by Paula Faircloth.
