We really can't imagine any other nursing situation that requires such an intensive and life-long procedural post-care. Kelly does all this with aplomb, and he also does what he does with a welcoming demeanor, smile, and good humor!
Kelly uniquely offers highly remarkable care and extraordinary compassion! Kelly has been our post-transplant coordinator for going on a year, and he has a very big and consequential job! Given the dynamic nature of lung transplant and the complexity of immunosuppression, Kelly is in almost constant contact with us. He enables intense, dovetailed coordination: multi-disciplinary partnership/appointments; follow-up to weekly surveillance labs, chest x-rays, procedures, medication needs/side effects/interactions/dosages; and the high stakes risks and reality of viral and bacterial infections, side effects, and rejection.
His proactive commitment has included not only timely and a depth of communication during business hours, but also on weekends and after business hours when necessitated-he definitely goes above and beyond! We really can't imagine any other nursing situation that requires such an intensive and life-long procedural post-care. Kelly does all this with aplomb, and he also does what he does with a welcoming demeanor, smile, and good humor!
In addition to the above, what makes Kelly especially unique is that you can actually hear his smile through the phone! We sincerely hope that his efforts are recognized not only within the transplant departmental arena, but from the leadership hospital-wide, since he is an invaluable key participant in not only keeping people alive but keeping UW the #1 Lung Transplant nationally! Thank you!
