With a smile always on her face and genuine concern in her heart, Jaimol is the kind of leader who lifts everyone around her.
It is with great pride and deep gratitude that we nominate Jaimol Sebastian for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Jaimol has quickly become a cornerstone of our Cardiology team. She has created an environment where everyone feels supported, empowered, and inspired to give their best every day. She brings a calming and confident presence even on the most demanding days.
Although she came into her role as Assistant Nurse Manager without a background in this highly specialized area, she has embraced the challenge with positivity and dedication.
From day one, Jaimol made it clear that her door is always open. She listens actively, communicates respectfully, and makes each of us feel heard and valued. Whether it's a staffing concern, a patient care issue, or a personal professional goal, she addresses everything promptly and thoroughly.
What stands out most about Jamol is her positivity and her ability to lead with both compassion and accountability. She encourages us to grow and evolve in our roles, inspiring many of us to pursue further education and certifications. One example is by motivating the nurses to take on specialty certifications in our specific area of care. She wants us to be proud to show our enhanced knowledge and skills. She has also encouraged us to take the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training that the VA offers in order for us to strengthen our professional development.
Jaimol has remained deeply committed to maintaining a culture of safety. She proactively ensures all clinical equipment is up to date and consistently identifies and reports malfunctioning or expired equipment. This vigilance not only protects our patients but reinforces a standard of excellence and accountability within our team.
