Hanan was assigned to my wife in the ICU. While my wife was awaiting surgery, she had not eaten or drunk for 24 hours and had been awake for over 36 hours, between a day at home, two different hospitals, and a medevac. During my wife’s stay in the ICU, she was on several medications and had countless blood draws. I could see how weak and tired she was.

Multiple staff cared for my wife; however, Hanan truly stood out to me. She saw how scared my 28-year-old wife was, the mother of my two small children. Hanan went above and beyond what was required, and I can see that very clearly. She kept us both calm, as informed as we could be, and comfortable as possible given the circumstances.

Individuals like Hanan should be cherished and studied so others can learn from her exceptional personal and professional skills. She showed levels of compassion, personality, friendliness, and emotion that this world requires more of. Hanan is the type of person whether you just met her or have known her for years, you feel as if you have known her for a lifetime. Dear Hanan, please don’t ever stop being who you are and doing what you do for others. You have a wonderful soul.
