During my father's recent admission to St. Joseph's Hospital, he received care from several nurses. He asked me to fill out this nomination form to recognize one particular nurse: Madison, aka Maddie. He said that in all of his hospital stays, he has never had a more exceptional nurse than Maddie. Maddie was his daytime nurse for almost half of his stay. Not only did she provide exceptional clinical care, but her personal bedside manner was unmatched! Maddie would explain everything she was doing and what each day had in store for my father. She listened to him closely, answered his questions, and provided him with a feeling of comfort, helping ease his concerns. Further, Maddie was also exceptional in her interactions with my mother. Mom stayed by my dad's bedside daily. Maddie did a tremendous job explaining to Mom what was going on with Dad, answered all of her questions and concerns, and helped Mom find comfort in knowing Dad was in good hands.

As Dad needed additional antibiotics after discharge, Maddie helped Mom decide whether Dad would need to go to a nursing home temporarily or whether we could do at-home infusions. Maddie reassured Mom that at-home infusions could be done safely, explained the process and steps, and helped Mom feel comfortable with the decision. Everything Maddie helped us with turned out to be the best decision in continuing Dad's care. At home, infusions continue successfully, and we owe it to Maddie. She is a very special nurse and an even more special person! Dad says to thank Maddie and ensure she is nominated and recognized for what she did for him and his family. Thank you, Maddie!
