We can’t thank Kendal enough for the care she’s provided, the support she continues to give, and the dedication she brings every single day.
Congratulations to Kendal Galura, DNP, RN, from CVICU, Wolfson's new DAISY Award Honoree. Kendal was nominated by a grateful parent, who described her extraordinary, compassionate care, exceptional skill, teaching, and service.

We nominate Nurse Kendal for the DAISY Award for extraordinary compassionate care. We want to give her a heartfelt thank you. She has gone above and beyond not just for our son, T, but for us as his parents. Every question we have had, no matter how big or small, she’s answered with patience and a warm, reassuring smile. There was a particularly difficult time when T’s weight began to drop, due to his congenital heart defect. He was working harder than his little body could handle, and weight gain became a serious concern. It was the one thing standing between him and the stent procedure he needed.

As first-time parents, the idea of putting an NG feeding tube in our two-week-old son was overwhelming, especially when he had been doing well with the bottle. But Kendal, alongside the Speech Therapist, helped us understand the NG tube and why it was necessary. Thanks to their knowledge and compassion, we felt more confident and informed. When the NG tube was approved, Kendal, with the help of another nurse, expertly and gently inserted it. What stood out most was Kendal’s knowledge, passion, and unwavering motivation.

Before she left each day, she ensured the night nurses were fully updated on every detail of T’s care. That kind of consistency gave us peace of mind, and it meant everything. Mom and Dad were required to remove and re-insert an NG tube 2 times prior to being discharged. This was a very overwhelming and stressful process. Kendal educated us on how to insert and the route to move when entered in the nostril. Dad did the first attempt, and the tube curled in T’s nose and wasn't moving through the nasal cavity to the stomach. Kendal kept the situation calm, cool, and collected. Kendal told me to take it slow, re-insert, and move the tube around a little bit. The tube successfully passed through and reached the stomach without any issues. Kendal was truly an amazing instructor and created a positive environment in a high-stress situation. We can’t thank Kendal enough for the care she’s provided, the support she continues to give, and the dedication she brings every single day. Kendal made a lifelong impact and is making a real difference. We are truly grateful. Congratulations, Kendal, thank you for all you do for our patients, families, and team members! You are an inspiration to us all!
