He only had my best interest at heart.
Ryan Weese started his career at Elyria Medical Center as a patient tech and continued it until becoming an RN. He has worked on the Behavioral Health unit since 2018. Ryan was my nurse for a few days during my stay at the hospital. I remember that my 72-hour hold was coming to an end the following day. He and I had a "come to Jesus" moment during a conversation regarding this. I had mentioned how frustrated I was with my parents, who were in a different state, and how I just wanted to go home. He had taken a few minutes out of his day to let me open up and talk to him about things I was thinking and feeling. He had mentioned that he didn't think it would be safe for me to go home yet. He only had my best interest at heart. So when the physician, the next day, discussed a voluntary extension to my admission, I thought about how Ryan just wanted me to be safe and how much he wanted to see me feel better before heading home. I am extremely grateful to Ryan because I ended up staying in the hospital for three more nights, and there's no telling what would have happened if I had gone home earlier. Those three days meant learning more about myself, my depression, and how to cope if these thoughts and feelings return in the future. Even if being in the hospital was the last place I wanted to be, I am grateful Ryan was able to voice his true feelings about my safety. He truly puts his patients first before anything else.
