When the exhaustion and big emotions finally caught up to me, Kaylee was there with open ears and encouraging words.
Kaylee was a godsend when I was in the hospital after giving birth to my second child. They always say you will forever remember your nurses when you go through your delivery process, and that statement could not be any truer. When I tell my birth story, one of my most memorable moments was when I was so exhausted, emotional, and alone, Kaylee was there for me. Not only as a nurse but as a fellow mom. She made me feel so comfortable and truly made my night. Being alone in the hospital while my other child was at home without me was a huge challenge for me. I had never spent an evening without him, and the guilt set in. When the exhaustion and big emotions finally caught up to me, Kaylee was there with open ears and encouraging words.
She went above and beyond to make sure i had some time to get rest, even when i told her i didn’t need it. I knew the OB floor was short staffed that evening and she had several other moms and babies to take care so i did not want to feel like a burden. Kaylee never once made me feel rushed (even though i knew she had her hands full) or like i was any less important than any other mom there. She ensured me that i was in fact not crazy for feeling how i felt and she took my baby for a few hours so i could get some much needed rest. I am forever grateful for my amazing experience delivering at St Joseph’s, but i will always remember Kaylees kindness and compassion that evening when my world felt so heavy.
