My father-in-law, X, was admitted to Conemaugh Memorial for a cardiac issue. He was a very active 88-year-old, right up to the moment he was taken into the cardio cath lab. At that time, his life changed. While still in Conemaugh, he had a stroke. That day, he was flown to UPMC Altoona. He was in the ICU until he was transferred to the 7th floor, where he had the best nurse: David Allen. He was absolutely amazing all weekend long. He answered our questions and explained everything. He even took special care of my mother-in-law. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away in his room with many of us there with him. We are thankful that the family was permitted to stay in the room an extra four hours until my sister-in-law arrived from her home in eastern PA. David continued to be compassionate and helpful throughout the day. We have never experienced a situation like this and needed guidance on what the next steps were to get my father-in-law to the funeral home. David again was helpful. I know that the nurses are very busy, but he was truly a blessing to all of us. We feel that he went above and beyond for the family.
