My family recently went through one of the most difficult times of our lives. My father underwent a kidney transplant, and my mother was his living donor. It was an emotional, overwhelming experience filled with anxiety, uncertainty, and fear. During this time, we were incredibly fortunate to have Nurse Jasmine by our side. From the very beginning, Jasmine was more than just a nurse. She was a calming presence in the storm. She took the time to explain every detail with patience and compassion, making sure we understood what was happening and what to expect. She reassured us constantly, not with scripted words, but with genuine care that made us feel seen, heard, and supported. Jasmine treated both of my parents as if they were her own family. She checked on my dad frequently, managing his pain, monitoring his condition closely, and always speaking to him with such warmth and kindness. At the same time, she looked after my mom with incredible tenderness, recognizing that being a donor came with both physical and emotional challenges. She never let my mom feel like just the donor. She made sure my mom knew how valued and heroic her role was.

What stood out most was how Jasmine cared for all of us. She would stop by just to ask how we, the family, were doing. She saw our fear and responded with compassion. Her presence gave us comfort, strength, and hope. What truly stood out was how vigilant and proactive she was when my dad began experiencing complications. In those moments of chaos and fear, Jasmine didn't miss a beat. She noticed changes in his condition immediately and relayed her concerns to the doctors. She was our advocate when we didn't know what to ask or say. Because of her quick action, my dad got the care he urgently needed, and we believe she played a vital role in helping save his life. Nurse Jasmine embodies everything the DAISY Award represents. She turned a time of fear into a time of healing, not just physically, but emotionally.
