I would like to nominate Audra Doherty for a Daisy award. Audra is a phenomenal nurse and patient advocate. Audra makes her patients feel comfortable and provides consistent labor support.

Audra had a patient who came in for elective induction. The patient stated that she had little faith because her last babies were born in birthing centers. The patient stated that when she met Audra, she made sure to ask the patient what she wanted her birthing experience to be. The patient was appreciative that she included her in the care plan and how supportive she was with the birth plan. Audra created an environment that fostered compassion and established trust to meet the goals of the patient. The patient stated that Audra assisted her in birthing positions and stayed by her side to offer continuous labor support and provide continuous education to help ease the anxiousness of the patient. Audra went above and beyond offering the same care to the patient’s spouse throughout their stay.

Audra is recognized often by many patients for her nursing skill and most importantly how she makes her patients feel. This is not the only patient that gets this type of care from Audra. Patients request her to be their nurse and her peers often look to her to provide the most compassionate experience in labor. Audra also shows up as a non-formal leader on the L&D unit. Audra takes the time to ensure each room is always stocked with the appropriate equipment without being asked. She takes the initiative and is a go-getter. Audra’s passion for nursing is admirable. She always shows up for her patients no matter what. She consistently exceeds expectations.
