For those who are unfamiliar, the nurses in the PCU have been caring for Surgical Trauma ICU patients for over a year and have faced numerous challenges. Bradley Duda continues to show extreme dedication, not only to the Progressive Care Unit, but to our STICU patients. This week, he was faced with an extremely difficult case and maintained his composure throughout his entire shift. This patient ultimately required ECMO, which is not a service our STICU nurses are trained to provide, but he continued to deliver extraordinary care to this patient. Every step of the way, he was willing to learn, care for the patient, and work hand in hand with our CRN partners to accomplish the cannulation necessary for his patient to receive ECMO. Bradley willingly went down to the cath lab with the CRN to watch the cannulation process and stayed with the patient post-procedure until proper arrangements were made. Bradley continues to be an asset to our PCU team and deserves a DAISY Award for the quality, patient-centered care he provides each shift. He is the definition of dedication.
