I would like to nominate Christian Watson, RN, (CPSU) for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary compassion and humanity she brings to patient care. Although I have only encountered her a few times, those brief moments left a lasting impression on me. On three separate occasions, I observed Christian sitting outside during lunchtime with one of her patients. What struck me most was the genuine, heartfelt way she interacted with this patient. She wasn’t just providing care; she was sharing a moment, making a meaningful connection. Christian engaged the patient in conversation as if she were sitting with a one of her own family members. It was pleasant and touching to watch. I felt encouraged and inspired by Christian’s act of kindness. Her kindness and presence served as a powerful and gentle reminder: the people we care for each day are not just patients; they are mothers, fathers, siblings, and friends. They are valued and loved by someone, and Christian treated them as such. Her actions spoke volumes about the type of nurse and the person she is one who leads with empathy, dignity, and respect. Christian’s ability to make her patients feel seen and valued is the essence of compassionate nursing, and it deserves to be recognized. She is a shining example of what the DAISY Award represents.
