Following my abdominal hernia repair surgery, I encountered a couple of problems that impacted my recovery. Despite repeated attempts to explain certain issues that I was encountering, I was simply not being heard... then in enters Samantha.

This young woman actually listened and relayed my concerns to the appropriate medical staff. While I am a competent, articulate individual, fully capable of communicating my concerns, I was at a disadvantage in this situation. I do not work in the medical field, and to a degree, I was at the mercy of those charged with my care. While nothing malicious was being done to me, I was being overlooked and my concerns dismissed. Samantha both advised and encouraged me to advocate for myself. Additionally, she stepped up for me and even approached the staff on my behalf. This nurse went above and beyond to see to it that other staff members listened to me. As a result, the concerns were addressed. All of the nurses that I encountered during my 7-day hospitalization were personable and professional, but Samantha was nothing short of exceptional! Samantha imparted advice that I, as a patient, will continue to rely upon in being responsible for the management of my own health. Samantha is a true asset to your organization.
