I can still hear her kind voice now and will never forget her or the care she provided to me during the most difficult time of my life.
I spent 27 days in the critical care unit at Hackensack University Medical Center. I was in a medically induced coma for much of my stay and can't recall a considerable amount of what happened to me. Upon finally waking up and eventually getting a speaking valve, I learned a ton about what I endured in the CCU. My husband D, asked if I remembered most of my nurses and mentioned that one stuck out to him because she was extremely caring and kind. She helped my husband get access to "MyChart," which no one had even mentioned to him before. Rosa also showed extreme compassion toward not only my husband but also my mom and sister, as all three of them visited me daily. I explained to my husband that I didn't remember most of my nurses because I was in a coma and heavily sedated. He wished I remembered Rosa because he had such a good experience with her. One day, while I was in the step-down unit, two CCU nurses walked in to say hi to me and hear my voice being since I was now using a speaking valve. One of them was Rosa, and the minute she spoke and told me who she was, I immediately recognized her voice. I did remember her! Even though I couldn't recognize her face, I remembered how calming her voice was while I was not awake. She would talk to me and still explain what she was doing and help calm me down if I was having a rough day. I can recall thinking to myself how lovely her voice was and that it made me feel secure in her care. I can still hear her kind voice now and will never forget her or the care she provided to me during the most difficult time of my life. Thank you, Rosa!
