I was working with Katie and she made it work out for the HRU patients that could, were able to go watch fireworks. She made sure she asked every patient who was able, set up a postpartum room, and made sure there was enough staff to help get them upstairs. Katie picked a room with ceiling-to-floor windows. She turned the computer on and put it on the radio station so the patients could hear the downtown fireworks program. Their faces literally lit up. They were taking selfies, videoing the fireworks, and were so incredibly happy in that moment. Some of them mentioned that they would come back next year with their babies. They got a panoramic view of the downtown area and many other places that were also setting off fireworks. Katie made sure these Moms had a memorable holiday that they won’t forget. She cares so much for this hospital, her nurses, her floor, and her staff. It is a blessing to work with her.
