She held our daughter’s hand and wiped away her tears as the doctor installed the port.
When our 20-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, her first procedure besides the biopsy was the installation of her port, which was painful, but she told us that Renee helped so much; she held our daughter’s hand and wiped away her tears as the doctor installed the port. Fast forward a few months and the original port became exposed, it had to be removed, and a new port placed, we knew this was going to be painful again. Renee was not working that day, but for some reason, she was walking by the room, recognized our daughter, and took the time to come in and talk to her. Our daughter has been to the IR department many times over the past several months, and each time Renee is there, she seeks her out and is genuinely happy to see her. Renee remembers details about our daughter’s life and asks for updates. We have had many good caregivers throughout OSF; however, Renee is exceptional! Not only is she a skilled and wonderful nurse, but she truly serves with the greatest care and love! We are so grateful for her unparalleled compassion.
