My mother fell ill and was hospitalized with pneumonia, leading to sepsis and finally her demise. I arrived early to visit with her, not knowing that it would be her last day. I was greeted by Mario, RN. My children and I introduced ourselves to Mario. He asked if anyone worked in the medical profession. My daughter and I are both nurses. Mario gave us a thorough update, including data from her chart that all nurses would want to know. We discussed what that day would look like for my mom, knowing this would probably be her last day. My sister was the POA/Healthcare Rep and was also present. Mario met every single member of my family to help them understand her condition and prognosis. He discussed options and let us help lead the way to a comfortable passing. It was peaceful and provided so much comfort to my family that I can't describe it in words.

I feel my mother had a very peaceful passing, and it was largely due to Mario's nursing excellence. As a nurse, I have high expectations, and I have one word to describe Mario: perfect! He warmed our hearts during this sad event, and his words and encouragement helped me in the days to come. I hope he knows what a true blessing he is for the nursing profession and how he helps families adapt to adverse situations. We hugged and said goodbye. I will always remember Mario and the care he provided to my mom and our family.
