Life seemed too much at the moment, but after talking with Katie, I felt some hope, which I hadn’t felt in a very long time.
Being in the hospital is something nobody wants. Of course, you don’t feel good, or you wouldn’t be here, but nobody talks about the emotional stress that you feel. I have a lot going on right now. I recently became homeless and cut off contact with my family. Being sick enough to be in the hospital is/was the final straw for me mentally. I became a basket case. Katie took the time to talk to me. She comforted me and listened to me in a way no one had for a long time. It truly felt like she cared and not just as my nurse but as someone who was my friend. I have to admit I was thinking of ending it. Life seemed too much at the moment, but after talking with Katie, I felt some hope, which I hadn’t felt in a very long time. I’ve had great care from doctors and nurses, but Katie truly saved my life. She is someone who cares about her patients overall, not just the medical needs of the moment. A person who does that needs to be recognized for the HERO they are!
