I am honored to nominate Octavio Rocha, RN, for the DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care and compassion shown while taking care of my father during his time in the ICU on a ventilator. From the beginning, Octavio treated my father not just as a patient, but as if he were a member of his own family. In a time filled with fear and heartbreak, he brought comfort, reassurance, and a deep sense of humanity that we will never forget. Octavio Rocha, RN, provided my father with exceptional care, characterized by incredible attention to detail, patience, and skill. He spoke to him gently, even though he was sedated, and explained every step of care, and made sure he was always comfortable. The level of empathy and dedication shown was far beyond what anyone could expect – it came from the heart. In the darkest of moments, Octavio was a light. We will always remember and cherish the way he cared for my father and supported our family. Thank you for going above and beyond and for being the kind of nurse who truly makes a difference.
