I have had the pleasure of working with this nurse for almost two years now, and I can confidently say that she is the epitome of a Children's nurse! I recently had a non-verbal, delayed patient who almost never had family at bedside. Towards the end of our shift, this charge nurse had the idea to brush and braid my patient's hair during her free time. She took the time to brush out all the tangled knots in my patient's hair whilst playing some fun music in her room to brighten the mood! While lending a helping hand, I witnessed what a change it made in my patient's demeanor. Although she is nonverbal, she was exhibiting all of her "happy signs," which we rarely get to see since she's always alone. This nurse also had the idea to take the patient out of her bed, placing her in her wheelchair, and walk a few laps around the unit so that the patient would leave her room. I was so appreciative of her taking the time out of her day to add some sunshine to my patient's life! When this nurse and I were walking out together, she told me that she would request to have that patient the next day. During my time working with her, I have had the honor of witnessing just how much love, care, and passion she has for our patients and families. She inspires me to be better every day!
