Lindsey is incredible, and she left a mark not only on me but on my husband and our entire family.
In February of 2025, my life and the life of my family changed in an instant. My husband was taken by ambulance from our home to Carson Tahoe ER. On the way, he coded from a massive heart attack 2x and coded twice more in the ER, the 4th time for 10 minutes. After being shocked and brought back, he received an emergency stent to clear his blockage and save his life.

As I prepare to write this, I've started and stopped many times because I don't exactly know how to word what I'm thinking without rambling on. So, I'll give it my best shot. The night I left the ICU to get home to my son, the ICU Dr. promised me my husband was in good hands. I had mentioned to a day nurse, I can't remember her name, as she was not my husband's day nurse, but she was amazing, that I'd like to be in my husband's room in the morning if they brought him up out of his medically induced coma. I wanted to be present when he woke so that he knew he wasn't alone.

Lindsey, my husband's nurse, received this message and called me that evening. I answered the phone, frantic that something had gone wrong with my husband. Lindsey calmed me and said she simply wanted to introduce herself and let me know she's taking care of my husband, and he is doing great. She asked me to be at the hospital early in the AM, so I was present when his breathing tube was removed.

It was shocking that a nurse would call me to say Hi and introduce herself. She was so nice and friendly, and I knew my husband would be in good hands that night. Lindsey told me to call anytime to check on him; it didn't matter the time. I did call late that night to check on him, and she was kind and patient with me. She gave me his vitals and an update, and I was able to get a few hours of sleep.

The next night, she was given my husband as her patient again. This time, he was awake and talking. The two of them got along like peanut butter and jelly. She spent so much time with both of us explaining exactly what happened and what was happening. Medicine, treatment, blood work, and anything she should share and explain, she did. She was kind enough to allow me to stay with my husband and sleep next to him in a cardio chair. She made sure he was comfortable in his body after all the pain he was experiencing, and when he begged for the catheter to come out due to discomfort, she took it out.

Her job as a nurse is to tend to her patient, but I'm telling you she took care of both of us that night. Lindsey is incredible, and she left a mark not only on me but on my husband and our entire family. I've had the unfortunate situations of spending weeks and months in the ICU with my mother, in different hospitals throughout California, and Lindsey's actions and reactions in just a few days blow all those other nurses I've met out of the water. I don't know where I'd be mentally that awful week if it were not for her.
