During my recent stay at Bluffton Regional Hospital, I had the distinct pleasure of having Rebecca Contreras as one of my shift RN’s. The following is just one example of Rebecca’s caring nature. Rebecca is very knowledgeable. Prior to her coming on shift, I had a blood test that showed that I was deficient in potassium.

As I shared this with nurse Rebecca, I told her that I had been given oral potassium, which had brought my count into the normal range. It was not time for Rebecca to be working, but she went and checked my count to verify that my potassium was in the normal range. When she returned to my room, she explained to me in easy-to-understand terms why I was not put on a regimen of potassium. She explained that too much potassium was hard on the heart.

Even when I was not her patient for that shift, she would come by either before or after her shift, just to see how I was doing. Nurse Rebecca had a way of making me feel glad that I was at Bluffton Regional and not at another hospital. I can honestly say that you need more RN’s like Rebecca.
