We hadn’t eaten all day as we had been so busy caring for mam; Keeleigh brought us refreshments.
My mam was a palliative care patient on ward 29 and we sadly lost her. Everything was new to us and extremely distressing. Keeleigh wasn’t our nurse, but she saw us struggling to comfort mam and came in to help. She provided total reassurance and an overwhelming sense of calm and professionalism. She clearly cared for all of us, and although mam wasn’t her patient, she spent a significant amount of time with us – nothing was too much trouble. She gave an exceptional level of care and compassion. We hadn’t eaten all day as we had been so busy caring for mam; Keeleigh brought us refreshments. She even sought ice lollies for mam! The way she spoke to my mam was beautiful. When an angel, when mam’s meds needed increasing, it was no fuss and she stayed until mam was comfortable, providing the utmost care. Her personality alone made everything better. In the darkest, hardest day of our lives, she made it easier to face, and her kindness and actions will forever be remembered.
