In addition to her daily ambulatory triage responsibilities, Brandi works in the clinic every Monday alongside physicians, social workers, medical assistants, and physical therapists in what is known as the ALS Clinic. ALS is a complex and progressive disease, often accompanied by devastating news at the time of diagnosis. Both in and out of the clinic, Brandi provides patients and families with valuable resources, compassionate support, and timely clinical care. One of Brandi’s greatest strengths is her innovative mindset, consistently seeking ways to uplift patients, spouses, and caregivers during their journey. An example of her creativity is her idea of the Pet Therapy program in the ALS Clinic. With patient consent, individuals can interact with a therapy dog while waiting for their appointments. Since the clinic consolidates multiple care team visits into a single day to reduce the need for separate appointments, these sessions can be lengthy. Pet Therapy can offer a meaningful and engaging way for patients and caregivers to spend this time, enhancing their overall clinic experience.
