My father-in-law was brought to the ER in May. On top of all the issues he was experiencing and having already been waiting for hours, his ileostomy bag began to leak. He was brought by ambulance and didn’t think about bringing any supplies along with him. As we waited patiently for his nurse to assist us, the bag broke away, and a mess ensued. My sister-in-law reached out to the first person walking past, Amanda.

We were frustrated with the situation and waiting, and admittedly, not at our best. Amanda was a true professional. She apologized for the situation, which was no fault of hers. She was patient and kind as she assisted my father-in-law and as she calmed us. She did all this after her shift had ended. She took the time to stop on her way out and help. We truly appreciated all that she did for us in that moment.
