Mary took the time to ask thoughtful, genuine questions about my health, and I could tell she truly cared, not just about my symptoms, but about me as a person.
From the moment my husband and I were brought into our ER room at Meriter, Nurse Mary “Peg” made a difficult and stressful experience feel less overwhelming. She immediately helped us feel at ease with her warm presence and compassionate care. Mary took the time to ask thoughtful, genuine questions about my health, and I could tell she truly cared, not just about my symptoms, but about me as a person. Her empathy and professionalism stood out right away.
What really touched me was a simple but incredibly kind act. I casually mentioned that my bottom was sore from the bed, joking that maybe I just didn’t have as much padding as I used to. Without hesitation and without me asking, Peg took it upon herself to find a more comfortable bed with a cushioned mattress. Within minutes, she was wheeling a new bed into the room and moving me to a better space. I was completely blown away by her thoughtfulness and initiative. This was just one of many ways she went above and beyond during our short stay. Mary is a shining example of compassionate care, advocacy, and excellence in nursing. We are so grateful for her and will never forget her kindness.
