She was constantly giving me options of different things to try to help relieve my pain and discomfort.
I was transferred from Owatonna Hospital to Abbott Northwestern Hospital as a 23-year-old with gallstones, pancreatitis, and Gilbert’s disease. I was extremely weak, frail, and so ill when I came in. Haley was actually my nurse the second day, and I am forever grateful for her days working, lining up with me being there. Every time she walked in the room, she always had such a bubbly, happy attitude with the biggest smile. How I was feeling was so obviously her number one priority; it brought me so much peace.
Haley was a great nurse! I have never received care anywhere and had such a great experience. She was always making sure I had everything I needed. Always offered to get me puddings and broth from the floor so I could eat them when my stomach would allow. If I pressed the nurse’s button, she was always in there quickly and with the best attitude. She was constantly giving me options of different things to try to help relieve my pain and discomfort. I never felt judged or like a burden to her, even though I know she had so many other patients as well.
On discharge day, she made sure to offer me a wheelchair in advance so if I wanted it, it would be here by the time I could leave. She was always asking my parents if they needed water or anything. If we had any questions she couldn’t answer, she was always getting back to me with the doctor's or doctors’ response. When I questioned when I would see the doctor, she would take the initiative and tell me that my labs were in and we were hoping to hear from them. She was the best patient advocate and care provider!
