We had the pleasure of having Malia take care of A for a few days and nights. She cared for and treated her with so much kindness and compassion. It was as if she were caring for her own loved one. I could tell that she genuinely cared for A; although she was sedated, she talked to her about Disney movies and the newest TV shows, and kept her up to date about special occasions. It was Valentine’s Day, and she left us with a Valentine’s card and little trinkets the morning of.

Not only did she connect with my daughter, but she also connected with me as a family member. She lent her ear and related to me in giving and receiving care for a chronically ill child. She listened to all my concerns and fought for the best plan of care for A. I truly felt heard by her. It’s heartwarming to know that a nurse caring for my child has been through what I am going through. She is such a bright nurse. I am so happy that A could have her for the brief period she did.
