She coordinated with her team on the floor, nursing supervisors, the MD on call, the family, and the hospice doctor to make sure that the veteran's wishes were honored.
The 62 Acadia staff led by Marie Badio-Beliard RN went above and beyond making sure that one of our veteran's was well cared for during his last days (dying). Though the veteran was not feeling well and was started on IV fluids the day before, Marie noticed that the veteran's condition was not getting better. She saw the change in condition, immediately calling the MD on call for assessment. She went on to notify the family about the veteran's condition. She coordinated with her team on the floor, nursing supervisors, the MD on call, the family, and the hospice doctor to make sure that the veteran's wishes were honored.
She also made sure to coordinate with the MD to put in place all comfort medications for the veteran. The Hospice doctor came from home to make sure everything was coordinated well. But he was amazed to see how proactive Marie and the team were in making sure the veteran was comfortable. Kudos to Marie and the Bedford VA 62 Acadia Team.
