I've been working with Cindy on the PBMU for nearly 6 months. Cindy is typically staffed as the Child Program - Primary RN. When I work in the Child program as a coach, it is extraordinary to watch Cindy work with our patients. She is truly able to meet patients where they are and help them feel heard and seen. It's common for the patients we see on the PBMU to hate most grown-ups (including hospital staff). Cindy is calm, understanding, proactive, resourceful, and just everything you'd want in a nurse and coworker. She listens to these patients with an open heart and mind and takes the time she has to reassure patients that she is here to ensure their well-being. She shows up to work every day with a smile and treats each of her patients with dignity, respect, and compassion. Additionally, Cindy takes the little free time she has during the day to create magical experiences for our children. She'll put together scavenger hunts, hide and go seek, personalized coloring pages, and go above and beyond when meeting patients' wants and needs. Cindy truly understands what it means to provide exceptional trauma-informed care to our patients. If we could all be a little more like Cindy, this world would be a much kinder and happier place.
