Shelly was our biggest advocate. My mom came in here after suffering from seizures due to cancer in her brain. She made us feel heard, asked questions, asked our names, and went out of her way to make sure we felt heard and seen. We were only here while waiting to get transferred to another hospital. She kept us up to date with what all was going on communication-wise with the other hospital. Near the end of the shift, she made sure my mom was clean, changed, her bedding was changed, and her bladder was emptied. She talked so sweetly to my mom, even though my mom herself was unresponsive. She made sure we knew every action she was taking and took all the questions we had in stride. If every nurse was like Shelly, I’m sure we’d have a lot less problems in the healthcare system. She took care of my mom like she was her own. Will never forget her kindness. Thank you, Shelly.
