I am honored to nominate Anna Walton for the prestigious DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to nursing at SickKids Hospital. With over 40 years of dedicated service, Anna embodies the very essence of compassion, skill, and advocacy in pediatric nursing. Throughout her remarkable career, Anna has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advocating for children in the operating room. Her dedication ensures that the youngest and most vulnerable patients receive the highest standard of care, while also empowering their families to feel safe and supported during challenging times. Her compassionate demeanor and attentive nature have made a profound impact on countless families, providing them with comfort and a sense of security during their hospital journeys.
In addition to her exceptional clinical skills, Anna performs truly superhuman work. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role, which not only enhances the care provided but also inspires her fellow nurses to strive for excellence. Her colleagues have the utmost respect for her, recognizing her ability to lead by example and foster a collaborative work environment. You would be hard pressed to find someone in our department that doesn't know Anna, from the preop nurses, surgeons, anesthetists, attendants, to the post op nurses. Everyone knows and respects Anna!
Furthermore, Anna is a staunch advocate for her colleagues, often going above and beyond to arrange their schedules, ensuring they can spend valuable time at home with their families by taking on their shift work. This selfless act not only enhances team morale but also reflects her deep commitment to the well-being of those she works alongside and her caring nature in general. She is like the "mother" of the OR, taking care of any nurse who needs extra support or coverage.
