Thank you, Jordon, for all that you do! We will always remember your kindness and the impact it made.
When we were transferred to AFCH for our two-day-old baby to have surgery, our world felt like it had turned upside down. Our child not only needed surgery, but he needed a temporary colostomy placed, something incredibly intimidating for anyone to manage, much less on top of managing the care of an ill child in the hospital. All of our nurses were amazing, but Jordon took it to the next level and helped make the whole situation much less daunting. Jordon treated our son with so much extra care and helped show us that his colostomy bag wasn't going to be a scary thing to manage.
She never pushed us, but she challenged us to utilize our time there to learn how to take care of him while we had the help available, so we would feel prepared when we got to go home. She also could tell we felt like we were missing out on enjoying our special newborn time, so she took it upon herself to plan an art activity with him with paint and footprints, special decor, and costumes. I was brought to tears when we returned from a brief lunch outing, she urged us to indulge in only to find she had conducted an entire photoshoot with our son and printed out the photos for us to have forever. While we were gone, she had also made our "bed" (pull-out couch with our blankets from home), organized our slippers, and tidied up our room. The little things nurses do that technically aren't in their job description really go a long way to make our cloudy situation that much brighter.
