Day and night, she has ensured his comfort while holding space for his enormous support system.
I’m truly at a loss for words. The amount of care, love, and humanity my boyfriend, I, and his entire family have felt during this time is something we could never have imagined. We’ve been through many hospitals on this journey, but the nurses at RIH are just different. There’s no other way to say it—they are extraordinary. Since September 2024, my boyfriend has been in and out of hospitals after suffering a traumatic brain injury. His journey—one of strength, hope, and unimaginable hardship—began here at RIH. And now, as he enters hospice care, it feels only right that his journey ends here, surrounded by the same compassionate hands that first held him through the worst.

The RICU nurses have gone far beyond their roles, offering not just care, but true compassion—even when they weren’t directly assigned to my boyfriend. They’ve shown us that in the darkest moments, humanity and kindness still shine through. They’ve made something unbearable feel a little less heavy, and I didn’t even know that was possible. Since starting hospice, Erica has been wonderful. She has cared for Ray with a gentleness and grace that’s impossible to put into words. Day and night, she has ensured his comfort while holding space for his enormous support system. We chose not to move him to another facility because we couldn’t imagine him passing anywhere else. This hospital, along with its staff, has shown us what true compassion and dedication truly look like. To each and every nurse who has touched our lives—you are truly incredible. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. The entire unit deserves to be recognized
