Noriko is always 10 steps ahead, adept at anticipating the needs of her patient and other teammates in her room.
Every morning when I arrive, I know instantly if Noriko is working because she will be planted on the break room computer researching her patients for the day. Noriko is one of our amazing OR Nurses, and I'm nominating her for the DAISY Award because she always goes above and beyond for our patients, the providers, and other OR staff. Noriko is always on time, which is amazing since she typically has a bunch of cases. Noriko is always 10 steps ahead, adept at anticipating the needs of her patient and other teammates in her room. She has an abundance of tips and tricks - "hacks" as she calls them - which improve efficiency.
Noriko is an exceptional preceptor and often has a student or orientee with her. She is a wonderful teacher, knowing how to speak with her students/orientees in a manner that is direct, clear, and concise. She also provides constructive feedback, including areas for improvement, and acknowledges a job well done. You can tell that she has a genuine interest in seeing her students succeed and is always encouraging, even when she's no longer their preceptor. Noriko is a true team player.
When Noriko has free time, she can be found helping other rooms. She will pop in and ask if the room needs help. If it's near the end of the case, she will return clean unused supplies, which is very helpful since the end of the cases can be the most chaotic. When not much is going on, you can find her in the core helping to put away supplies. There are numerous reasons why she deserves this award, and without seeing her in action, I feel that any nomination would fall short. In short, Noriko is someone I look up to and who I, and many others, aspire to be.
