She even took time out of her already busy schedule to take him outside to the garden.
I've had the privilege of working alongside many nurses, but few stand out the way Liz does. There was one patient in particular who made a strong impression on me. A man who was constantly in pain, frustrated, and often grouchy with the staff. Most staff were understandably hesitant when it came to interacting with him, especially when he would frequently call to request pain medication. Liz never hesitated. She always responded promptly and treated him with unwavering patience and respect. On the day she was assigned to him, he was noticeably calmer. He didn't call out as often. The next day, when he found out she would be his nurse again, he was genuinely relieved. Liz went above and beyond that day. She even took time out of her already busy schedule to take him outside to the garden. A simple but powerful gesture that brought him joy.

That same day, I also watched as Liz carefully and patiently worked through every mat and knot in another patient's hair, helping her get cleaned up with gentleness and care. Liz never asked for help or recognition. She didn't do it for praise; she did it because she genuinely loves nursing and truly cares about people. In a time when burnout is real and compassion fatigue is common. Liz is a breath of fresh air. She reminds us of what nursing is all about, and it's an honor to work alongside her. Watching Liz care for patients in the way that she does inspires me in my own journey, and I truly hope to be a nurse like her someday.
