Elda is a Navigator for Hendrick Breast Institute. She is an amazing example of what the Hendrick Mission is. She serves her patients with compassion and care. From a community member: I wanted to reach out and tell you a quick story. We have a woman in our office here, at [Abilene Business], who had a small lump in her breast that was found last month after a pretty brutal biopsy. This obviously freaked her out when the test came back with positive findings. She ended up having surgery. The markers she received back from the result of that weren't where the doctors wanted them to be, so she's having another surgery next week. Dr. [Surgeon] is the one taking care of her. She has shared with us her journey through all of this and is being supported by a wonderful Nurse Navigator. I had never heard of such a thing, and she emotionally shared her journey with this nurse. To have someone literally by your side from the very start, going to appointments, making sure to check up on [the patient] every day, making phone calls to get information that [the patient] needed and wasn't getting on her own, being in Post Op, and so much more, is just AMAZING!! Like. It's actually more than just amazing; it's unheard of. The Nurse Navigator Program through the Hendrick Breast Institute is not getting the attention it deserves.
