Her presence there helped me feel more empowered to ask good questions, and grounded to comfort my own parents as they processed my brother's imminent death.
Kendall was an absolutely crucial part of making our brother's passing easier to navigate. She checked in on us, had amazingly helpful and insightful answers to our questions, and advocated for us when we had some confusion with the doctor. She took such amazing care of my brother, going as far as to clean his hair after he had some electrodes removed from his scalp. All of the nurses we had were lovely, but no one else was as attentive to all of us, as concerned for our well-being in an impossibly difficult situation, and kept us updated constantly on his stats, test results, and vitals. She was an absolute joy to be around every day.
When she came back on her day off to see my brother off to organ donation and check in on us, we were all thrilled, and she was as welcome as any member of the family. Despite knowing that he couldn't understand what she was saying, Kendall consistently spoke to him directly when working with him. She was always kind, respectful, and sweet to him. I was completely confident in leaving my brother in her care at all times. I'm so grateful she was able to be in the room during our Care meeting with the care coordination team. Her presence there helped me feel more empowered to ask good questions, and grounded to comfort my own parents as they processed my brother's imminent death.
Kendall is one of the most kind, compassionate, caring, and attentive medical personnel I've encountered anywhere in the world. She was always a joy to see, even in our hardest moments. I am still in awe of the respect, empathy, and protection she showed my brother, knowing he would not survive and she would never be repaid by him for her kindness. I am so grateful she was there for that part of our journey.
