Sarah was not only great with her nursing skills, but she was also even better with her personality and bedside manner. She knew exactly how to talk to and manage a patient in my mom’s condition, and my mom instantly improved.
My mother was brought into the hospital emergency department for an acute illness and ended up being admitted for 3 nights, and had to spend the first night alone until family could arrive. Due to her age, condition, and unfamiliar environment, my mother developed a temporary psychosis and became very difficult to deal with for the first two days of her stay. The nurses on staff were very professional but were rightfully tired and frustrated after a long night of tending to my mother. That morning, Sarah came on shift, and everything changed for the better. Sarah was not only great with her nursing skills, but she was also even better with her personality and bedside manner. She knew exactly how to talk to and manage a patient in my mom’s condition, and my mom instantly improved. She couldn’t quit talking about how sweet she was and how she reminded her of her granddaughter. Sarah was not only a great nurse but was also a great brand ambassador for her employer, Wellstar. She happily gave me advice for my daughter who was starting nursing school, and highly recommended Wellstar as a potential employer for her, telling us how much she loves her job and how Wellstar was like family to her. I highly recommend Sarah for this award. She is a credit to her profession and a role model for nursing. The student or new employee she was training was lucky to have Sarah as a trainer, and hopefully, the trainee will learn more than just job skills from Sarah. I’m a 30-year Fire Captain and Paramedic, and I know about patient care and compassion and recognize excellence when I see it and would love to have 100 Sarahs working for me.
