I have known several nurses over the years, and in my experience, Jeremy is an example for all other nurses to model.
I have been associated with Terre Haute Regional Hospital since I was 14 years old. I started out as a volunteer at the old St. Anthony's Hospital and have been involved with the hospital ever since as an employee or an employee of a physician. I have known several nurses over the years, and in my experience, Jeremy is an example for all other nurses to model. He has been at Regional Hospital for many years, and his caring nature and compassion are second to none.

I have had the experience of having several surgeries at Regional Hospital by various physicians, and since the first surgery that was performed and Jeremy was in the operating room, I have always asked for him to be in the room for my surgeries.

Over the years, this has expanded to several of my family members and friends through the years, whom I have informed to call and ask for Jeremy to be in their operating room. Most of the time, this can be accommodated. Everyone has the exact sentiments to exclaim regarding Jeremy. Jeremy is always there to calm nerves, answer questions, offer a smile and kind words, and set your mind at ease. We all know that surgery is very scary and stressful. Jeremy does very well at calming these emotions for everyone involved, for the patient and their family members who are there as well.

On the last December 2024, my daughter and I had surgery on the same day, and of course, we requested that Jeremy be in the room for both of our surgeries. This request was accommodated. Per usual, Jeremy came into our rooms before surgery and gave us both a big hug and told us that he would take care of us. I went first for surgery, and then my daughter and he took care of both of us exactly in the way he always does, and we were calm and stress-free before our surgeries. After our surgeries, he checked on us several times and asked if we needed anything so that he would be able to assist us. He always does this. After my daughter and I got back home to New Baden, he continued to check on us.

In 2012, I moved to New Baden, IL, which is 30 miles east of St. Louis. I still come to Regional for any surgery that I need to complete, and so do my family and friends from all over Indiana and even other states! I am in the healthcare field in St. Louis, and it is such a different environment. Cold, sterile, and just a number, which is not the way healthcare should be. I would love to have Jeremy come to the hospital organizations to teach them how to be the incredible nurse that he is and treat patients as a person, and not just something else to do in your day.

Jeremy deserves to have this recognition for his years of service, compassion, and care for the many patients that he has taken care of. I would like to be able to list all of the patients that I personally know of who list Jeremy as the greatest nurse that they have ever had take care of them, but the list would be endless. Just in my immediate family, it includes myself, daughter, son, Mom, Dad, Brother, In-Laws and so many others. Please consider this nomination from me and so many others to honor him as a nurse of example, and a genuine caring person!
