Jill truly goes above and beyond to advocate for her patients. I went from a nervous first-time mom from Philadelphia giving birth without her husband to a ready mom, supported by her nurse, giving birth with my husband next to me.
I am a first-time mom from Philadelphia in Houston for a work conference when my water broke, 5 hours before my flight home. My coworkers and I came to the closest hospital, which was Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. Being from out of town, I was unsure of how my birth was going to go. From the moment I was admitted to the delivery room, Jill went through my birth wish list with me and told me everything was going to be ok. I told Jill that my husband was from the Netherlands on his business flight and that I would like to wait for him until I deliver. Jill held my hand and reassured me that she would do everything in her power to make sure that happens. We discussed my original birth plan, which was minimal intervention with an epidural but no Pitocin. Not only did Jill go over all the benefits/risks with every procedure, but she also took the time and was extremely patient when I needed more time to decide on my care plan. With Jill’s help, I felt great delivering from my birth plan to starting Pitocin once my husband got to the hospital. My husband arrived in the delivery room, and we started the Pitocin. I dilated from 4 cm to 10 cm in 3 hours, and Jill did everything from changing birthing positions, recommending birthing tips like a mirror for encouragement. I delivered in 40 minutes. This form is not big enough to list how professional, loving Jill is. Jill truly goes above and beyond to advocate for her patients. I went from a nervous first-time mom from Philadelphia giving birth without her husband to a ready mom, supported by her nurse, giving birth with my husband next to me. Jill deserves this award for her outstanding clinical practice, connections with her patients, and for making sure she lives up to the Memorial Hermann hospital standards. I would fly to Houston to have Jill in my birth story again.
