Let me start by saying I’m an adult female staying in the pediatric unit. My nurse specializes in children for a living. As soon as I arrived, this nurse had already read my report and put things in the room to make me as comfortable as possible during my stay. Later that next day, my doctor came into the room and talked with me. When he left, I expressed to this nurse some concerns I had and that I felt like he was being dismissive. This nurse messaged my doctor and asked him to come back in a clarify things for me. They wrote down my concerns and then advocated for me when he came back in. I never felt so much love from a nurse. I’ve had them as my nurse three times since my stay, and I have never felt so much relief just knowing I’m going to get 1000 percent of them each time they care for me. Another thing they did was constantly ask if I needed anything. I told my nurse no, and they came back and brought me water, Sprite, Jello, and crackers because I had been throwing up the night before. Things that weren’t even asked of them, they went above and beyond to make me comfortable. This nurse sets the best example for every nurse around them, and their positive light has been a blessing during such a dark time for me. This nurse deserves so much more than a DAISY Award, but I knew this was the least I could do for them for everything they have done for me.
