Shelby Wheeldon has a very bright and happy personality and working alongside her in the ER setting, I have the opportunity to see the positive impact it makes on her patients. During one patient's visit, they were extremely nervous and anxious. Shelby sat down with this patient for over an hour. While in this patient's room, she learned this patient was struggling with anxiety, as well as he needed adjustments to his medications. This patient did not have the knowledge or resources to receive the care he needed. While in the patient's room, Shelby also learned that this patient was the primary caretaker for his terminally ill mother who was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer, glioblastoma. She built a rapport with this patient, allowing her the opportunity to advocate on his behalf. She assisted him with establishing a primary care physician as well as the resources he would need to establish care with Mosaic Mental Health.

Due to her own personal reasons and background, Shelby has a passion for mental health and is willing to go the extra mile to provide her patients with the quality care they deserve. Because Shelby sat down and actively listened to this patient's needs and concerns, she was able to provide this patient with the level of care he needed. This is only one example of how Shelby went out of her way to show her patients the compassion and care that Mosaic strives for.
