She frequently asks thoughtful and meaningful questions to ensure she is giving the highest quality care and always treats each patient with respect, kindness, and dignity.
Sadie is, without question, one of the most compassionate, driven, and genuine nurses I have had the privilege to work with in bedside healthcare. I have had the privilege of working alongside Sadie as a healthcare technician on the cardiovascular advanced care unit at Carle BroMenn Medical Center. I have seen her deliver truly exceptional care every shift. She brings a remarkable level of dedication and compassion to her patients. She consistently sets the standard for what nursing should be and demonstrates what a great nurse looks like. She frequently asks thoughtful and meaningful questions to ensure she is giving the highest quality care and always treats each patient with respect, kindness, and dignity.

Sadie speaks to every patient with a gentle and caring voice that provides comfort to her patients. As healthcare workers in a hospital, we see patients in their most vulnerable state, and Sadie treats and cares for each patient as if they were her own family. Her compassion is genuine, and her instinct to nurture is evident in every interaction. Her care goes beyond her clinical skill. It is personal, heartfelt, and deeply human. Her ability to nurture is natural.

Sadie also uplifts our entire team. She goes out of her way to thank others, whether it is fellow nurses or technicians. She consistently acknowledges the efforts of those around her and helps create a positive, team-oriented atmosphere on our unit.

One moment that stood out to me occurred recently while I was assisting a patient with ambulation. He noticed Sadie in the hallway and asked, "That nurse...what is her name? She looks familiar." I responded, "That's Sadie. She is one of our excellent nurses." He smiled and told me he had Sadie as his nurse during a previous hospital stay.  He recalled asking her how long she had been a nurse, and she nervously said it was her fifth day off of orientation. He said that despite being so new, she provided the most compassionate and attentive care he had ever received.  He told me that he knew that night she would become a great nurse. He then told me that he had her again about a year later, and that his instincts had been right. She had grown into exactly the nurse he saw in her from the beginning, outstanding and nothing short of amazing.

Sadie brings light, joy, and excellence to our floor. Whether it is her first day or her hundredth shift, she gives everything she has to her patients and her team. She is the very definition of an extraordinary and life-changing nurse.
